New Year’s is right around the corner, and 2026 is going to be a fabulous year, we hope.
If you're looking back at your credit card statement and thinking, “Damn, I vape a LOT,” I feel you. During special events, weddings, dates, meetings, and even our day-to-day work activities, stress has us reaching for the vape more than usual. It adds up fast, both in puffs and in dollars.
We’ve already covered how to save money while still vaping in another blog. Today, let’s talk about something different: the popular opinion that “I want to slow down on vaping.”

The Mixed Bag of Emotions
It’s a little mixed bag of emotions. You’ll have the David Goggins type - razor-sharp mindset, ready to throw your vape out the window over the new Pattullo Bridge (now known as stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge). But trust me, before you do that, hear me out.
Quitting vaping isn’t as simple as sheer willpower (although I commend those who can quit cold turkey). Everyone is truly built different. I’ve done it over a dozen times - taken breaks as long as 6 months and I tend to come back to it. We used vaping to quit tobacco, and we’ve worked the steps to come off clean. Now it’s about finding balance.
Quitting Isn't Like Laying Off Cookies
Quitting or slowing down on anything isn’t as easy as laying off the cookies for a month during New Year’s resolution season at your local gym (yikes, Planet Fitness at 10 AM on a Monday).
It requires a combination of mindset, willpower, and strategy.
Mindset: You Have to Want It
You need to “want” to slow down. Not because your boo-boo told you to. That just results in drained efforts and “hiding” to vape (yeah, gift card users, we’re looking at you 👀).
Once you’ve established that you genuinely want to quit or slow down vaping, you’ll be in the right mindset.
Willpower: It's Essential, But Limited
Willpower is essential, yet many of us lack it. December is full of cookies and savoury goods, I’ve seen the healthiest people crack at Christmas dinner for some sugar cookies. It’s okay; we’re human, it happens.
Willpower when it comes to vaping looks something like this: I’m driving 20 minutes through traffic, do I need to puff on my vape the entire drive? Or can I hold off and treat it as a reward when I park?
Or even: I’m playing some sweaty S&D on Call of Duty, do I need to puff away in between rounds?
This is where willpower is important. Now remember, it’s not as easy as just describing it. Sometimes we need to “strategize” our methods and combine it with willpower and mindset.
Strategy: The Real Game-Changer
Strategy is key to ensure success in slowing down or quitting vaping. We touched on a couple points above when explaining how willpower correlates with vaping less.
If you're like me and you “mindlessly” vape while writing a blog (hello, it’s me - the ABT G-32 Disposable sitting next to me), you need to make it inconvenient to “mindlessly” vape.
So here’s what I’m going to do: I’m going to put my vape(s) - "yes, I have multiple" - in the backroom away from me. Once I’m finished writing this, I can take a break and go have a puff or two.
Another strategy I implement while doing local deliveries at Futuristic Vapes (link here) is I leave my vape in the trunk. Why in the trunk? If I get stuck in traffic or feel frustrated with the left-lane camper, I’m less inclined to “pull over” and go vape. I’d rather get to my destination and then have a puff.
With these two strategies alone, I’ve reduced my daily vaping intake by at least 40%. Think of some ways you could strategize to vape less, some of you may have even more creative ideas than I do.

One Thing You Should NEVER Do
The one thing I really, really recommend you DON’T do is throw your vape away. The minute you do that, you’ve increased your chances of a complete relapse. If you approach this with the three keys above, I can almost guarantee you’ll see similar results.
Pro Tip: Reduce Your Nicotine
If you want to get more advanced, here’s one other pro tip: reduce your nicotine strength. You’ll slowly adapt to lesser amounts and have fewer cravings.
