Something's wrong with your vape and you want it fixed in the next five minutes, not a lecture.
This is our master index. Find your symptom, get the likely cause, follow the link for the full fix. Ten years of counter diagnostics, organised.
⚡ Start here — the three that fix most things
- Charge it. Low battery causes symptoms that look like anything but low battery.
- Dry the contacts. Pod out, wipe the pins in the bay and on the pod base. This is the single most effective fix we know.
- Try a fresh pod. Isolates the pod from the device in one move.
Genuinely — that trio resolves the majority of what comes across our counter.
Find Your Symptom
| What's happening | Usual cause | Full fix |
|---|---|---|
| Harsh, acrid, burnt taste | Scorched wick — fired dry or ridden too long | 6 causes of burnt taste |
| "Check Atomizer" or blinking lights | Short or open circuit — usually wet contacts | Decoding error messages & blink codes |
| Leaking, sticky pocket, spitback | Overfilled, drawn too hard, or worn coil | 7 causes of leaking |
| New pod tastes burnt immediately | Fired before the wick saturated | Filling pods properly |
| Device ran out way too fast | Chain vaping, boost mode, heat | Making it last longer |
| Wrong pod won't fit or fire | Incompatible platform or resistance | Caliburn pod compatibility |
| Weak hits, harsh throat, dizziness | Wrong nicotine strength or juice type | Nicotine strength guide |
| Won't turn on or charge | Locked, dead, or dirty charge port | See below |
Won't Turn On or Charge
The one symptom without its own post, so here's the full routine:
- Five clicks. Most devices lock with five rapid presses of the fire button. A “dead” device is often just locked.
- Check the port for lint. Pocket fluff compacts into USB-C ports and blocks the connection completely. A toothpick and good light usually solves it.
- Change the cable and the plug. Test both separately — cables fail far more often than devices.
- Leave it 30 minutes. A fully depleted battery sometimes shows nothing at all for a while before it wakes up.
- Check for liquid in the bay. Leaked e-liquid reaching the internals can stop charging entirely.
When to Stop and Bring It In
Stop troubleshooting and come see us if the device gets hot while charging, if the battery looks swollen, or if it's visibly damaged. Those aren't DIY situations.
Also worth the trip: you've tried a brand-new pod and it still won't fire. That points at the device, and we'll bench-test it before you spend money on a replacement.
♻️ If it really is finished: don't bin it. Lithium batteries cause fires in garbage trucks. Bring it to the Delta store — we take drop-offs and work with VapeCycle for proper disposal, and we'll give you a take-home collection bag.
Prevention, In Five Lines
- Let a new pod sit 10 minutes after filling.
- Fill below the max line, through the side port only.
- Refill at a quarter full — never run it dry.
- Keep it out of hot cars and away from cold windowsills.
- Wipe the contacts occasionally, before there's a problem.

FAQ
Why won't my vape turn on?
Most often it's locked rather than dead — try five rapid presses of the fire button. Otherwise check the charging port for lint, try a different cable and plug, and give a fully drained battery half an hour to wake up.
What's the first thing to try when a vape stops working?
Remove the pod and dry the metal contacts in the battery bay and on the pod base. E-liquid or condensation on the contacts is the most common cause of a device that suddenly stops firing.
Is it the pod or the device?
Put a brand-new pod in. If it works, the old pod was the problem. If the fault persists with a known-good pod, the device itself likely has an internal issue.
When should a vape be replaced instead of fixed?
If it gets hot while charging, the battery looks swollen, or it's physically damaged, stop using it. Those are safety issues, not maintenance issues.
Do you fix vapes in store?
We'll diagnose it for you at our Delta shop — bench-testing with a known-good pod so you know whether the pod or the device is at fault before spending anything.
Futuristic Vapes sells vaping products to adults 19+ only. Vaping products contain nicotine, a highly addictive chemical. Stop using any device that overheats, has a swollen battery, or is visibly damaged.
